Who is KOMO product certification and testing for?

The KOMO product certificate for rubbers and adhesives is relevant for manufacturers, distributors, traders, contractors, architects, installers and plumbers and anyone working for provinces or municipalities involved in sewage and drainage activities.

Either you’ll want to work with certified products to rely on high performance and prevent damage or maintain piping systems effectively. As a certificate holder you’ll want to demonstrate to your customers that an expert independent organization supervises the production process of the certificate holder, the quality of the product and the quality assurance thereof. Testing will demonstrate compliance to national and international product standards.

About KOMO product certification and testing

Certification of rubbers and adhesives with the KOMO quality mark guarantees compliance with the requirements of Dutch standards for products for the building and infrastructure sector.

KOMO mark testing demonstrates compliance to national and international product standards. Rubbers are tested on requirements for hardness, tensile strength, elongation, and volume change after fluid exposure and/or heat resistance. Adhesives’ performance tests strength measurements like tensile, shear and peel data and other adhesive property tests such as impact, odor, and aging.

KOMO certification evaluation guidelines

Certification of vulcanised rubber products for cold & hot non-drinking water applications (BRL-2013)

KOMO certification under Kiwa evaluation guideline BRL2013 applies to products which, at least partly, have been manufactured from rubber(s) are intended for use as seals in piping systems for the transport of cold and hot water.

The intended systems comprehend plastics, metal and concrete piping, fittings and connectors. The systems are intended for underground as well as above ground applications. Seals for pipes, fittings and connectors made of glass reinforced plastics (GRP) are also included in the scope.

The BRL 2013 evaluation guideline is a certification scheme for vulcanized rubber products for cold and hot non-drinking water applications. More specific; for seals, applications for drainage, sewerage, rainwater and heating. For drinking water application, we refer to evaluation guideline K17504.
